Nuclear Reactors
We have had a wake up call with the earthquake in Japan and the resulting damage to several of their nuclear reactors. It has only been a month or so but it seems as though people are already putting it in the past when we really need to be doing something about the reactors that are still in use. I live in Southern California and they have a nuclear plant not far at all from my house. Just like the Japanese reactors, this one sits right on the coast. I would be surprised if that reactor was able to continue functioning correctly after being hit by a tital wave.
If anything happened to it like what happened in Japan, I would be forced to leave my home. I'm less that 20 miles away. That really touches home! I could not imagine leaving everything behind and not being able to return for potentially the rest of my life. Not only that but the Southern California coastline is amazing and what a shame it would be if it was lost to the world for generations due to a meltdown. We need to take action now. We can't wait and hope that no disaster strikes, because if it does it will be to late.
